You got it man, I do this *every* time when I’m introduced to someone who isn’t called Dave, Bob, Jane, Anna or Steve.
Unique names aren’t as easy for me to pick up the first time and before I learnt this technique, I wouldn’t ‘embarass’ myself by asking their name again. Now, I make a thing of it!
“Ndidi, did I pronounce it correctly?”
“Almost, it’s said en-di-di.”
“Oh great. How do you spell it en-didi?”
“N d i d i.”
“Cool name, I love unique names.”
Now they feel like the most important person in the group rather than the forgotten person with the hard to pronounce name.
