Thanks for the feedback Christine, I really appreciate it as I don’t know much about farming, only about technology and media. The ‘choice layer’ explores the question ‘what if machines not humans chose how we managed the farms natural resources?’

If the choice was machines not humans, how would it differ from the farm ‘design layer’, where machines decide everything but don’t get to choose what to optimise for.

Two examples.

‘design layer’ The farmer is the steward of the natural resources and chooses what outputs the farms should have (production, preservation etc) then the machines design the best possible solution to meet those output objectives.

‘choice layer’ The machine is the steward of the natural resources and choose what outputs the farms should have.

Does that help at all or have I gone off the rails!
